Whoa years ago. Listening to one of the mash ups from GLEE. If you’re not watching this show you should be. I’m very excited to watch the premiere of the next half of the season.

Speaking of premieres, I’m going to the premiere of SWOOPED on Monday, which some very good friends of mine have written, directed, and produced. I have full faith in them. Schmoozing and fancy clothes? Sold.

Today I decided to make sure I know how to do makeup from different decades so I worked on the 20s and 30s. I also learned how to cover eyebrows which was simpler than I thought it was going to be, but is still a work in progress. Let’s just say that I wouldn’t go out like this. Yet.

These are inspired by the 1920s:

Sunday evening marks the beginning of three days of renovations at Jones, so no work there for a hot minute! Everyone is scurrying to make plans , and oddly enough a lot of them include spending more time with people we work with. I picked up more shifts at the store, but it looks about 85% positive so far that we will be going apple picking on Monday out in Media. Fall has definitely fallen. Along with fall in all of its chilly goodness comes the High Holy day for us weirdos; Halloween. I’m looking to go all out and gory this year, so if there is some hot mess of a murder or wound you would like to see let me know and we can make it happen.

Also, the transfer from Philadelphia back to New York is starting to creep around in my brain big time. The goal still is to be back up there summer ‘09, but some manic episodes are making me consider an earlier move. But it really depends on the normal concerns–finances, work, housing. They each kind of control the other too which of course makes life super easy. At the moment I’m scouting out contacts and possibiliteis up there; research if you will. I like Philadelphia a lot, I do, but I’m getting antsy here. I just feel so much more at ease in New York, even though my life is still based in Philly. After spending the last [almost] five years here its going to be a huge jump/adjustment but in the end I think its for the best.

Saw the end of Weeds and the newest episodes for Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you do not watch either of these programs you better put the big girl pants on and do it. Always Sunny is more accessible–thanks pricey Showtime, thanks. but still both are amazing and demand your time. I cannot disclose Weeds information, but they have been signed on for two more seasons, so catch up before the fifth season starts!

New photos from a shoot I did with Maria and Ashley about a month or two ago, focusing on the strength [in women] that comes out of being abused. Maria did a fantastic job in capturing the essence of beauty, strength, and pain in the photos.

Oh blogging. How you leave me feeling as though I cannot form coherent thoughts.

I’m antsy, I need a project; an activity if you will. I work a lot, but its not what I do. Its more like how I pass time while money [occasionally] passes into my hands. I have been collaborating with a girl I work with, a fantastic photographer named Maria. She’s a big fan of the wounds, so we’ve started a kind of battered woman/womens’ rights series. She’s even gotten into the groove of using me as a model which is different for me, but still fun nonetheless.

I also did a punk rock suicide photo shoot for one of my favorite photographers, Jolene. She’s been doing a majority of my photography in the last year or so, so I helped her out with a project for school. These aren’t her shots, but these were the digital ones taken around her work by ShaunPaul Costello.

I’m on a shoot this weekend, where I will be doing intensive scar work for a film about African women who have been sexually abused and battered. You can bet your sweet ascot that pictures will be up once I have them.

Saw the Raveonettes at Johny Brenda’s last night. Great show. Drunky McNerdypants in the front though should have been flagged about halfway through but it was amusing nonetheless. Black Acid opened for them and they were fun too. Couldn’t hear the vocals though, but from what I did hear of the singer’s voice, that’s totally okay. The guitarist was much more appealing, but for some reason the bassist never faced the audience. The disco ball totally made my night.

On a personal note, I found a place to move into mid-May, beginning of June. I need to get decorating the apartment out of my head, as that can be costly, but I still want to do it. And do it I shall. At some point.

Other than that, I have sold my soul to Steven Starr and one day I’ll be reaping the benefits. We’ll see how long that takes…

My friends made me watch this video the other night…I can’t tell what’s so amusing about it, but I’ pretty sure its because the kid is British and the baby sounds slightly stoned. Slightly Jack Black-ish in Orange County, perhaps? Ah well. .

There was this giant sheepdog monster thing at work today. Honestly, if you put me in a big shaggy dog suit and had me walk around on all fours, I probably would still only be half the size of that thing. Still, it was very gentle. When I went to pet her I couldn’t really tell where her actual head started. That was a little weird, because I feel like that is something that one should be able to differentiate. Now that I think about it, sometimes my cat moves his head in a way that makes him look like he has no neck. Like those guys in the burger suits for the Burger King commercials. They’re creepy. I can’t wait to tell people that I make people into patties. I hear that’s a real conversation starter.

Since its been like a million years, I suppose its time for an update. Things have been bustling and busy, what with that fire in our bathroom a couple weeks ago. We’re okay, the cats  are okay,  not too much overall damage. I lost some bathroom stuff and a couple necklaces that’s pretty much it. The place is so dusty though; I feel like no matter what we do its never going to go away. I suppose I should be more worried as to the fact that when I saw the cop in front of our house I thought “Doesn’t mean anything, he could be visiting any one or more of our neighbors”. Lot of help he ended up being.

On the work front, three jobs is making me sick. No, literally, this week my body decided it didn’t like my work schedule anymore and shut down. I’ve been overall achy, tired, and just not feeling the lifestyle anymore. My brain is kicking it back into gear now, however. All I’m left with is a cough and a fear of slipping on ice outside. Stupid Temple being in the ghetto.

This Sunday is the last day for me on the set of The Body, for which I have been making a man look as though he’s been in a car accident. Check it out:

Off to watch Across the Universe. Now that I own it (and have since the day it came out) I feel like watching it all the time. Just cause I can. Sweet.

I went to do a make-up test today for a shoot beginning this weekend. Its actually the next three Sundays at 8:30am. Hours I’m not entirely familiar with. Its fine because I’ll only be there for a couple of hours. Then off to work! Whoa smile time.

But the test was fun though; the character has just gotten hit by a car, so he’s broken his nose, cut his forehead open a bit and has the general “I’ve just smacked the left side of my face on concrete” thing going on. He’ll be coughing up blood as a result of internal bleeding, of course. Sometimes I wonder why/how I know that kind of thing. I’m just chalking it up to the amount of Law & Order: SVU that I watch. Mm Elliot Stabler…

Anyway, I’ve been reading this book called Take A Walk On The Dark Side: Rock & Roll Myths, Legends, and Curses. Its about all the mysterious deaths and legends and whatnot within that world beginning with Robert Johnson. But since most of them are car crashes of some kind I must do two things. One, avoid reading too much before this shoot (because it scares me and I’m a wimp). Two, look up autopsy pictures for some of these people. Hey, it may freak me out but what better way to discover wounds than by checking out the famous ones.|

Welcome to my page of bruising, blood, brain matter and happiness. As this page is under construction, things may be changing here and there but one day it will settle down. Before I go any further, I must give credit and my utmost thanks to my best friend Eli for creating this page.

Its been quiet the last couple of months on the film front; I wrapped my last project in mid-December and am currently gearing up for a couple shoots within the next month or two. I got off the phone with a director today who has a character who is a car crash victim, which will be fun because it means I can tear his face up. And who doesn’t love taking out aggression on other people? Except this kind of aggression can be washed off.

For the record, I am not a violent person. I don’t really like [gratuitous] gore in movies, as you can ask Eli what happened when we watched Hostel. Rather when I tried to watch it. I like doing this kind of make-up because its three dimensional art; there’s an extreme usage of the blending of colors all so it looks natural. I think that’s why bruises are my favorite wound to apply. If they weren’t broken blood vessels, signs of spousal abuse, or key in Lifetime movies, bruises would actually be kind of pretty.

I almost want to take that last comment back for fear of sounding superemo. Almost.
